In this episode Rose Leslie also plunges fully into painful psychology of an adolescent girl's wrenching experience. Carefully note the ages of the characters (I first found their being displayed annoying, but then I came to realize how important they were for understanding what was driving the behavior of Henry, and that enabled me to pick up on the depth and subtlety of Theo James' acting). But whatever you do, don't just skip to this episode.īecause of the interweaving time lines (which Moffat obviously has expertise in creating), it can really only be fully appreciated in the context of the entire story. The writing is perfectly plotted and worded, the directing and the cinematography bring out the exquisite acting of the ultimately agonizing plot. There is one episode of the series that is an absolute masterpiece: Episode Three.
